Hayden Nix is a medical student at Western University. Between his second and third year of medical school, he took an academic leave of absence to work towards a master's degree in practical ethics (M.St.) at the University of Oxford. He received a B.Sc. (Hons) in pharmacology from McGill University in 2016, and a M.A.Sc. in biomedical engineering from Dalhousie University in 2018. Hayden is passionate about ethical issues in medical practice and research involving older adults. He is interested in the ethical design of cluster randomized trials and the concept of vulnerability. Hayden is currently working on a project investigating the ethical issues that arise in pragmatic cluster randomized trials involving people living with dementia in long-term care homes. Outside of academia, Hayden is a former varsity lacrosse player trying to stay active in retirement and enjoys playing squash and hockey.
